Electrical work safety training for the automotive industry
The voltages used in hybrid and electric car batteries have brought a new safety challenge to people working in the automotive industry. High-voltage batteries and other high-voltage components can pose a danger to life if electrical work safety is not sufficiently taken into account when repairing them.
European legislation requires that installers performing maintenance and repair work on electric and hybrid cars, as well as persons working in management and technical expert positions, have electrical work safety training in accordance with the European standard as applied to the automotive industry.
The regulations apply to vehicles with a driving battery voltage of more than 30 volts alternating voltage or 60 volts direct voltage.
Auto industry operators recommend training for anyone who works at a garage that maintains or repairs electric or hybrid cars.
